Termina, hoje, o II Foro Empresarial da América do Sul – Países Árabes (ASPA) realizado em Doha, no Catar, com empresários e membros das Câmaras de Comércio de ambas as regiões. O Brasil tem cerca de 30 representantes. Desde a criação da ASPA, em 2005, pelo governo brasileiro, o comércio entre os continentes cresceu de US$ 11 bilhões, em 2004, para US$ 25 bilhões ano passado. No país, esse crescimento foi de 150% saltando para US$20 bilhões ano passado. A ASPA conta com 34 países (12 sul-americanos e 22 árabes), além da UNASUL e da Liga dos Estados Árabes.
O presidente Lula esta em Doha para a realização, amanhã, da II Cúpula de Chefes de Estado e de Governo da ASPA. Na ocasião se discutirá marcos para um futuro acordo de livre comércio entre o Mercosul e o Conselho de Cooperação do Golfo.
